That night took my breath away

That night took my breath and I haven't caught it since.

A new year had only just begun a few moments before we first exchanged a fleeting glance, leading us to our kind of True Romance.

When the hands hit midnight, you were on heavens side entranced in the excessive fantasy of ecstasy.

And I had just stepped on hells stage,
DYI T&A (do it yourself tits and ass) was my way of ringing in the next phase.

If I had known I would have stayed home!
No, Not really, just kidding!

I believe in fate, and this was nothing short of destiny saying,
“Hey you two watch what I can do”.

Our eyes never met, it was the beat beneath our feet that forced our bodies to connect.

I headed towards the backroom to take a break, so I could accelerate my mood and change out of costume.

The girls laughed at the sight of me in a hurry.
And with smug grins asked “what I was doing and why was I in such a hurry to hit the floor”, all while continuing the giggling.

Nico said with a wink “He’s fine to look at I guess, but that’s it, at best”.

But I knew that wasn’t true, there was something about the way you moved that drew me to you.

I headed straight towards where I had set eyes on you first.

When I didn’t see your face right away, I thought maybe you had left already.

But then I felt someone staring, before turning to see, I knew who it would be.

You motioned for me to follow your lead, throw the soft melodies, and pounding bass beneath our feet, dancing closer with each switch of the mix.

You were so bold like you owned the world, like I was dancing with a king in my daydream.

Wrapping your arm around my waist, and then slipping your hand from my hip to my thigh, I thought, “Who is this guy”.

I felt as if you had known me from lifetimes ago, worlds away from where we presently were living within.

The sun would shortly start rising; showing everyone it was time to be leaving this party.

Yet before I could go, you pulled me to the side and asked my name, then told me yours politely.

So sudden, so unexpected, so unknowingly this becomes the moment marking our meeting, and has of course marked our beginning.

It seemed natural for you to command my attention and make demands of me.

And when you spoke your tone was that of royalty “Give me your number lady”, you said it without even slightly hesitating.

Thinking like a cynic, I said, “Are you kidding”, then you kissed me and out of my mouth were the digits coming truthfully.

Then you vanished so suddenly, although I had only looked away for an instant.

Christ I thought what was wrong with me, since when was I so easy.

Oh well the night is young and I had just begun to have fun.

The rest of the night is a little hazy, from here to there and back again, watching the sunrise while having drinks with friends of mine at the time.

I suppose the whiskey must have phased my memory, since at the moment I can’t recall any of their names or faces except of course yours.

Morning came and home I pranced, I needed some rest before beginning it all again that evening.

Then you called asking what I was doing, you asked if I was still awake and would I want some company.

I lied and said I was sleeping, hmmmmmmm you suggested, I guess I’ll call you another day maybe tomorrow we can go on a date.

I said good night or good afternoon, you probably said it too.

That was the start or our journey, the beginning of true loves story.

However grand it may sound, in no way does it over shadow what was to follow.

Passion, strife, Friendship and fights, Glamour and grace,
Decisions made. Walking, talking, Hand-to-hand,
Or running away from mistakes made.

Side by side, standing by while we watched nature take its place, Death and sickness, Growing life,
Changing skin filling our souls within.

What else is there is to be said?

Now all that’s left to be told is the ending of true loves story.

I am sorry to say I don’t really know what happened to THE END of this story.

I suppose we have always known, the beginning of the end started a few hours after the hands hit midnight on the night we would meet.
