Description: Another one of my poem-like rants... i wrote it last week during semester exams... augh... hah.. anyway.. i couldnt think of a title.. so if you have a better one.. let me know... post your thoughts. I'm sure everyone can relate to this in some way.
No More Repetition -------------------------------------------
Work Work Work
Learn Learn Learn
I’m sick of the sad repetition of my life
All the studying and late nights
For what?
Another grade
Another number
Another… pat on the back
I’ve already given so much to school
And though I have gained a lot of knowledge
I’m ready to move on
No more standardized tests that don’t say a thing
I need to learn the things that will help me
Personally
As an individual
I don’t want to learn the menial nothings
Lectured out towards the majority
I need life
I need passion
I need spontaneous adventures
Get me out from the high school scene
The silly gossip
All the stupid things people worry about
Hair
Clothes
Shoes
Etc.
Appearance is not nearly as important
As what you have to say
However, if you are going to fling dumb phrases at me
From your poorly written English paper
And ask for my opinion
Don’t bother
Because I will give you a “piece of my mind”
And it won’t be the praise you were expecting
Call me cruel
Or call me honest
But I only say the things that will help you most
And the things that I say
Are important…
Sometimes
Yeah, this does sound like a high school rant from someone totally disgusted with their peers (and life in general), ready to explode into the landscape of the world. The only problem with a rant is the emotion is so acute the skill is lost in translation (particularly when your anger overwhelms the satire you could make of this write; you scratch the surface of your potential at the close of the work). Think of this as an exercise in how to channel anger into a creative maelstrom/shockwave. I'd say the results of your future writes will be outstanding. Take care of yourself. Bill.
I love that. I feel the same way. It's too bad school can't teach "the things that will help me Personally As an individual" I'm not really much of a "rant" reader, but for some reason, I was interested in this one. And I'm glad I was. I really like it a lot. You make so many good points, AND its written wonderfully That's awesome. Great job
