Description: I was in a funnny mood when I wrote this, but I really do hate open doors. Its not a masterpiece, but I think it gets a point across. Hope you like
Open Doors -------------------------------------------
I like this piece. Not only is it a reflection of what I personally do, but I also feel that the opening and closing doors are great metaphors. Even though the poem so simple, it portrays denial perfectly. I also like the ending, the windows. My interpretation of them are the daydreaming and wishing part of him/her that he/she chooses to hide but occasionally unwillingly gets exposed. The open doors metaphor, I feel, is rather overused, but I however think that the windows metaphor is creative. I really enjoyed reading this poem.
YAY! This is an original concept with a lot of wit about it. Thanks for making me laugh - same places as Irina. I think this idea is so good that you should run with it even further - you recognise that this particular poem isn't a masterpiece, but I sure think you can create one with an idea like this. For this particular piece, I have an issue with the second & third lines of the second stanza "letting in what ever wishes/to be or not to be inside" - the letting in doesn't make full sense because you then talk about both moving in and out. Perhaps "letting through" would make more sense. I find it interesting that you speak of a saving breeze, and then mention the heating. Good work, keep that brain thinking originally!
Two things i laughed about when i read this piece:
Saves on the heating bill I tell myself.
Well at least they aren't as bad as those mother fu**ing windows.
For me the interpretation of open doors is that they allow strangers to peak what is inside someone else while it also allows the person speaking to peak at something that they don't really want to see.
As for windows, don't even get me started. I hate open windows more than i hate open doors.
Anyhow, not a masterpiece, true yet you still were able to push the message through. At least i had an idea as to what you talked about. Nice write.
