    dotsI AM FREEdots

Today is the day I will be exonerated
    through dedicated fasting and prayer

Today is the day I am moving forward
making a new life as I reclaim my dreams.

    Yesterday’s memories I have conquered
binding the demons guilt, grief, and doom.

‘Yesterdays’ I fasted and prayed for strength
today is the day GOD answered my heart's desire

Today is the day I will erase the slate clean
writing instead these three words, I AM FREE.

I AM FREE...powerful words. It's good when you can feel that, it's even better if you have a spiritual connection to God or a Higher Power who certifies that you are indeed free from your past and your are redeemed and ready to start over. This was a very impowering poem. One that made the reader see you went through alot to be declared free. I liked the spacing you used and structure of this poem. I can find no fault in this. Wonderfully done.

this is exactly where i am at today, so you've
    just reinforced that wonderful
feeling for me. i feel like
i've been on a vacation from God's love and
grace, and that is not where i want to be, and
    that was my own doing.

thank you so much for sharing this.

p.s. i just realized i'd already commented on this, but that's okay. it hit it's mark again!

This is an exceptionally well written poem. Full of hope and inspiration. It's good to get out from under and smell the fresh air again. So many times we refuse to change and are left
lonely and bitter. Glad to see things are looking up for you. Enjoy your freedom, you deserve it!

i really needed to read this today, Cheryl.
i am trying desperately to move forward and
follow my dreams, washing away the past and
the heartache that seems to haunt me daily..
i know that God answers our prayers, He does. the only thing is that we have to do the footwork, so back up off my dress Satan, 'cause i'm trying to dance here!
    thank you for this.

Nice! I may take part of this as my own New Year's resolution. The entire write is good. I like this -> "Yesterday’s memories I have conquered, binding the demons guilt, grief, and doom." <- I'm getting there.
Thanks for sharing this. It's great to read your writings again.

    Today is the day!

This reads as a new years resolution that can be read and followed every day of the year. So uplifting Cheryl! Glad to see you writing and commenting again. Hope all is well and let freedom fly, whoo-hooo!

      Nicely done.
It's a starting over phase that is brought in with the new year.
We as people sit here and dwell on the thing of the past and how we would have done them different if only we had known what lied ahead.

This write my friend serves as a great form of inspiration.

You know, Cheryl, this could have been written by many different people, it's almost an anthem.

I like it a lot, I can see it presented with a background pic for each line, I hope you see all the rainbows you truly deserve. They come after rain, you know?

    be happy

This is very affirmative. I like the tone and presentation.

    Good job.

I had a thought from a poetic view.

Three of the verses end in D words
    dreams, doom and desire.

What about ending the first with dedication rather than belief?

The I am free would then break the pattern. Then not only the words but the form itself might convey the message.

No need to change it, just a suggestion.

Nice write and a pleasure to read

this is too short in my opinion but you do get your point across i will give you that...this jsut isnt my favourite poem...but i do relate with wiping the slate clean and starting over like becoming a new person...
