Description:

a man taking on a mountain

The Cold Mountain

Climbing up the precipice
you dig your nails in the rigid rocks
and slide your feet down the face
there are feeling that your body will give one last kiss

The steep ascent of the mountain
is frigid and makes the mind stiff
breathing deep of the hanging foliage
you watch the water pour from the gushing falls

2/3's of the way up
a strength is renewed in your bowels
you move like a cat, pouncing on every rock
laughing and drinking for the hard cup

The peak pulls at every muscle
one last reach to take the ridge
the winds blowing on your hands and eyes
at last you reach the top

joy pours over your entire being
you have conquered the beast
few have done as you have done
this accomplishment makes you whole
