Energy.
Been wishing for it lately.
That odd sense of awareness, a pressured rush,
A tumble, roll,
A kick, a punch,
A kiss, I miss
That energy.
A memory so close by,
I often hear it prickling somewhere near,
And sometimes even feel it,
As if a butterfly somehow lodged itself inside my heart
And every wings'flap brings a new sensation:
Trembling, smiling, frowning, crying,
Loving, like a little baby boy
Wrapped in my arms where he belongs
The butterfly boy's little fingers touch mind
And a palm up my spine traces every wound
Like healing herbs.
To stand aside,
Just him and I
And feel a wisp of spring again.
A tumble, roll,
A kick, a punch,
A kiss, I've missed
That energy. |
