Everyday she wrote another word
Slashing it into the rockface
Screaming against the shifting currents
Erosion biting at her form
Teeth clenched at the promise of pain
Such frantic thoughts in desperation
Her pathetic cries of attention
Were but a whisper in the wind
An attempt to sew her wings back on
Needle and thread desecration
A stinging entrance, guilty exit
Painful defiance of her fate
Despite her effort, they failed her still
Crashing painfully on the ground
Creases and cracks adorning the
Once holiest of her altars
A peaceful haven now left in flames
Stained by the colour of her guilt
Trembling as the nightmares finally end
Cradled by the warming blackness
Silence all too deafening to bear
Mouth wide open, screaming nothing
Light glimmers upon her words
Scrawled out so obsessively
Such reflection of torment
Spilled across inner anguish
The floor, walls, and the ceiling
Covered in these sentences
Recording her sanity
As it slipped from her fingers
This place was her lifelong work
Leaving less of her behind
A glimmer of hope too dim
To notice when you're blinded by scars
No smiles this time, no cheer
Denial becomes so clear
Surrounded by the feathers
Haphazardly sewed back on
Piercing deep into her back
Tearing tender veins open
Every memory exits
Leaving an empty shell
Outside of this ruined altar
Where her glowing prayers had collapsed
Life flourishes without her thoughts
The sun beams above, offering light
That had never made it through the cracks
To the place where she had locked herself in
Without inhibition, hope shall grow
Right behind her back, she didn't know
Serenity and peace unconfined
A perfect blue sky without one cloud
All her hopes, her dreams, her cries aloud
The answer was just outside the door
Peaceful chirpings of a bird is heard
Existance unaffected by death
Pillars and foundation collapse
Like glass her name shatters, and slips
Amongst the countless ranks, nameless
Just dust blowing in the wind
Her words are just a memory
Every phrase becomes sand and fades
One final word remains intact...
"Goodbye"
