    Description:
       Written as an assignment when I was studying Celtic Reconstructionalism. The Celts often used daily devotions as part of their everyday relationship with their faith.

    I give you my first breath of the morning
    Slight tendrils of new sunlight caressing my face.
    I close my eyes letting the weary sounds;
    Cars, trains and the mechanical world
    Fade away into the sweet note of the birds' dawn melody
    I feel the crisp air tingle on my skin
    Softly breathing I listen to the voice of the Gods'
    Accepting my devotion that today is dedicated in their name.

      perfect thing to wake up and read in the morning. Goes very well with coffee and some pancakes, take my word for it. Iv looked up irish and celtic morning and evening devotionary poemds and prayers lately, and have found myself indulging in it.. all because of this wonderufl little poem. Although it doesnt capture precctly the feeling of diving into morning meditation, it points you there, and i really like it for its simplicity.

      this is really beautiful. i use daily devotions myself. first thing in the morning i raise my voice to my God and pray for a joyful and loving day with Him at my side. i love the line "I give you my first breath of the morning..." great way to start the day, i think!

      awww this is nice. Very pretty and heartfelt, a wonderful devotion. A very good ending too, is that yours or is that a common ending used for devotions like this?

      Yay Transcending! Liked how submitted this prequil after evening devotion; A perfect complimentary piece. Only off thing I noticed was grammer in the last sentence. It should be 'to their name'. Though I could be wrong, not everything is literal in poetry! :)

      i think i like this better than evening devotion. You sound so content. I love the line "Slight tendrils of new sunlight caressing my face." It makes it sound like just waking up is the most joyfull part of the day. A very nice poem. I am looking forward to reading more of your work.
