this was for an english assignment. we had to show understanding of symbolism within the book, to kill a mokcing bird, in a creative way, and i chose to write a poem

    dotsthe view from my windowdots

I sat by the window each night
watching the stars come out to dance.
It was their way of saying a simple "hello".
I liked to wish upon those stars
They were the company to my lonley existance.

Yet tonight as I peer out the window
there is no light breaking through.
    Darkness surounds this memory

I feel a warm tear stream down my face
a sense of loss scratches away at my thoughts.
Lost in fustration I reach my epiphany-
Everything is beautiful, if you just close your eyes.

All the things I thought I knew
I discovered were a useless delusion.
Now I contstantly desire more from you.

I wish you could come out and dance
and bring the stars back with you.
We'll close our eyes and enjoy them together
acompanied by the melody of the mocking bird
    whose song will save you.

WOW. i think this is absolutly amazing. maybe a lil weak in the beginning but very good meaning behind it. it sounds like you have some good original thoughts and this is just a really good poem.
    glad i read it.
