Why do the pallid faces float
    amid the whist'ling wind?
why are the eyes so dead
the breath so cold and dry?

    so faint, so clear
    a dull voice speaks-
    there are no word left.

and why the reek, the foul stench
    of mindlessness and death's demise,
would I heard a scream at least,
but no sound cuts the gloom.

    so faint, so clear
    a dull voice speaks-
    there are no word left.

Good moody images. I enjoy poems that let me overlay my own meaning. There are several sounds suggested here: whisteling wind, screams, silence, the ending where no words are left. This prods me to think of peolpe who talk but have nothing to say, as if that could be the definition of mindlessness.
People who need everything spelled out for them aren't going to get anything from this poem. As for me, it was a pleasure to read. I'll let others tell you about the typos.

Interesting poem. What I got from it was that someone has died...obvious reaction I know, but that's really all I got from it. I didn't understand anything if there was anything past that. Sorry.
