Responsible for so very much
so easily bruised and abused
it hangs out there, as if to be on some kind of string
and it's so taken for granted and overused
It governs all that you see romantically
and so much of what life does to you
it has to be nurtured, taken care of, and when it's not
so much pain and anguish does it bring you
It brings you your most treasured relationships
and it decides whether they'll mean something to you or not
it gives you the strength to say whether they'll become something
or whether they'll just fade and rot
it tells you what's worth persuing
and what's not the least bit worth your time
you use it to govern relationships, love, friendship
and what happens over time
whatever you choose to do with it
is your choice and yours alone
whether or not you use it
it also something that you decide on your own
because although it's there and not going anywhere
it doesn't mean that it can't be destroyed
so do with it what you will
maybe it'll survive whatever you put inside of it
