    -------------------------------------------

The secret song plays in the background
To me, the notes are unclear
    The words are muffled
    I hear your laughter
    I swallow my pride
I need to face the music

    Puppet on a string
    I danced for you;
    I performed, even though
    My legs were unstable
Your strings still protrude from my limbs
One by one, you cut them from the handle
    Alone and out of control
    I crumple to the ground

    The world is a stage
    And I was merely played
You sing your song to her
    The sweet, melodious notes
    Will never enter my ears
And the beautiful tune will continue
I could never ask you to stop
