    the sun had never felt so warm
    as on bare feet upon the sand
    we lived for backyard make-believe
    whirling in circles until we collapsed
    our little lives had just begun
    we laughed so much our sides split
    but summer bleeds into autumn leaves
    and those are masked by diamond snow
    it seems like it was long ago

    tires on cracked macadam spun
    freedom always beyond our reach
    the days and nights spent side by side
    friendships grew with secrets shared
    childhood still within our grasp
    our dreams flew into the night sky
    but summer bleeds into autumn leaves
    and those are masked by diamond snow
    it seems like it was long ago

    sunlight danced like beaded joy
    across the wavy water world
    it held us all so tightly knit
    hands and bodies all just fit
    together swirling down the stream
    until the world turned into dark,
    but summer bleeds into autumn leaves
    and those are masked by diamond snow
    it seems like it was long ago
    long, long ago.

      "Hello in New Brunswick!"---The seasonal aspect of this grabbed me most---"but summer bleeds into Autumn leaves and those are masked by diamond snow,it seems like it was so long ago"---love those lines--I can smell the maple leaves and see the sparkle of the winter snow.--I will make this one of my favorites..Mugs...

      This poem is amazing, probably one of my favorites so far. The imagery in this piece is beautiful, yet sad. I love it, thank you so much for writing this.
