For a Child -------------------------------------------
Your smile
-Crooked & Wide-
ceases family wars in an instant
Giant Ocean Blue Orbs
Light up
Widen- when you gasp with joy
at the wonders on a T.V. screen
-A Monarch Butterfly-
-A Striped Kitten-
Your Doll laugh is Velcroe
Love sticks to you
Your Doll laugh, tangible
Weighs down the air
When it turns to your doll cries
We all run to comfort you
And you call us all
"Momma"
You love your- ugly-
-worn-
-pink-
-Thrift Store-
-shoes-
and you wear them all the time.
You wear two mismatched dresses
Over pajama pants
And we call you Eccentric Child
And we love you still.
I think I noticed a site error, it says that this poem has 435 words and it doesn't lol. Anyway, ignor that compulsive habit please. This was really good (i like your icon by the way lol). It was really cute and I think you captured the image and innocence of a child very well. It's not usually the kind of poetry I read, but it's nice to read out side the box sometimes, you know? This was really refreshing to me, kind of inspires me to write other things besides poems about the dark side of life and everything, it's just hard for me to break that habit. There's nothing wrong with this at all! Good job....
