Hymn Analysis

Author: Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe Type: Poetry Views: 827

At morn- at noon- at twilight dim-
Maria! thou hast heard my hymn!
In joy and woe- in good and ill-
Mother of God, be with me still!
When the hours flew brightly by,
And not a cloud obscured the sky,
My soul, lest it should truant be,
Thy grace did guide to thine and thee;
Now, when storms of Fate o'ercast
Darkly my Present and my Past,
Let my Future radiant shine
With sweet hopes of thee and thine!

I think this poem means that the future is bright.It says to me that life is like a Hymn.tis a song about the radiance of life and how the future is shining brightly ahead.The poem says 'Now, when storms of Fate o'er cast
Darkly my Present and my Past'meaning that the present and past may be dark and bleak, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the future will be that way.The poem also states 'In joy and woe- in good and ill-
Mother of God, be with me still!' saying that even though there are sad and difficlut times there is also happiness still there. Poe says he found that happiness in God, and in sad times god is still there with him.
