There is always something to be made of pain.
Your mother knits.
She turns out scarves in every shade of red.
They were for Christmas, and they kept you warm
while she married over and over, taking you
along. How could it work,
when all those years she stored her widowed heart
as though the dead come back.
No wonder you are the way you are,
afraid of blood, your women
like one brick wall after another.

Michele, your words still echo with regret and and ulevniered hurt. I can understand those feelings, having survived a parent's loss from cancer and its effects. All you can do is remember the previous birthday, its well-wishes and loving care, and lay those memories over the one that hurts. At least it helps.Well done, my friend.

NothingnessKnees buckling, plank deenscding backward,Within moments examined to no avail;Yet aware of ministrations, the mindStruggled for meaning within thatTunneled world out there beyond my world.Traveling without voluntary movementToward pain delivered by those who wouldDecide my condition, ignorant to my silentScreams from inside mental walls erectedBy what had shut off that outer body.Days of negative answers calmed no nerves,Told no tales, addressed no treatment. As easily as it switched off, the bodyCame alive once more, allowing voiceTo that inner life during an immobile time.Left without reason, perched as a vultureReady to swoop down again in the future.

As it pinged my curtosiiies I had to read that last stanza a few times to absorb it. (I'm probably sleeping in too late during this holiday break)It can be an easy mistake to be held back with someone's world too tiny. Perhaps as we decide they can fill a void. But, we later realize (I know from experience:P) that we had to wait for something better because assuming we want someone to keep forever, we will feel empty in the near future if we're tied down by something so small. Compatibility .I guess I'm stating the obvious, but I like showing my appreciation for you work in comments. You're definitely a favorite of mine!
