Author: poem of Langston Hughes Type: poem Views: 105

I been scared and battered.
My hopes the wind done scattered.
   Snow has friz me,
   Sun has baked me,

Looks like between 'em they done
   Tried to make me

Stop laughin', stop lovin', stop livin'--
   But I don't care!
   I'm still here!

.: EN102 SF description :.

Clearly this poem is about a special forces sniper. The subject of the poem has been waiting for his target and in the mean time had the snow fall down on him and the sun beating down on him. The enemy has been looking for him ("looks like between them, they down tried to make me") and the enemy has tried to make him stop laughing and stop loving but hes gonna make his target stop living because after all the enemy's efforts to find him, he's still here.

.: Very Inspring :.

This poem really makes you think about what goes on in your life. Its saying that no matter what you go thruough whether its a triumph or a fall back you are still here.Life is an obstacle course there are supposed to be bumps and road blocks and if you overcome the bumps and road blocks or not and you are still here youve done your JOB.

.: :.

I think this poem is really good because it shows that life is full of
unwanted things and unfortunate occasions and even though we go through all
these things, we're "still here"

.: Xavier's Analysis :.

This is about a person who's been put up agains tht struggles of life. He's been challenged by the elements of the world whether it be the "snow" or the "sun" he pulled through. Both elements of the world tried to make him "Stop laughin', stop lovin', stop livin'" But despite their feeble attempts he's "still here!"

.: loved it :.

This poem to me means that even with lives up and downs, tomorrows coming and you can’t stop it so embrace it with wide open arms and live like tomorrow won’t come. Even when snow has froze you and the suns burnt you, you still have to keep going and be strong. I like this poem it really made me think about life.
