      1

I chopped down the house that you had been saving to live in next summer.

I am sorry, but it was morning, and I had nothing to do

and its wooden beams were so inviting.

           2

We laughed at the hollyhocks together

and then I sprayed them with lye.

Forgive me. I simply do not know what I am doing.

           3

I gave away the money that you had been saving to live on for the

                                                        next ten years.

The man who asked for it was shabby

and the firm March wind on the porch was so juicy and cold.

           4

Last evening we went dancing and I broke your leg.

Forgive me. I was clumsy and

I wanted you here in the wards, where I am the doctor!

This dude sounds like hes given up on life. He just doesn't care any more. He is breaking from what most people expect him to due. He is a little rebel. Either that or hes losing it. He actually reminds me of a hippie. Just living life from day to day not worring about the future and being kind to all. He's just enjoying life and having fun. Something i wish i could do. Forget school, and thinking about college just gives me a headache. But i can't disappiont my parents. If i don't finish High school and move on to a higher education they will fell let down. I think this man in the poem broke free from what other people thought and made his the life the way he wanted. i admire him for that. Not everyone has the guts.
