Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice.

I used a stick to give it a start and then it worked. x However air conditioner manufacturers and other expert sources include installation instructions that specify that the refrigerant lines should be insulated, supported, and wrapped with a weatherproof protective tape. Nothing is ever as it seems. As anyone who has broken up with the love of their life is well aware. Your world is ending. Nothing else matters, some of us spend every minute trying to figure out how to fix it. For those fortunate few who can accept the inevitable and end as friends, there is always the great memories of the passion and loved that was shared.
On the other hand if we agree to end as friends however one of us only hears, “I have a chance to fix this”, I’m going to be really nice and do all these things for the person so they can see what a great person I am. I’m going to win them back. This only pushes the other person further away because all they feel is they are being smothered. Which leads to them telling us, “leave me alone.”
And when we hear this we think, “what a b*^&ch, can’t they see how good I am; look at all I’m doing”, or words and actions to this effect. In the end you both end up hating one another and all the good you shared is overshadowed by the bad. The play was never about war for the reasons already stated; the first atom bomb was not exploded until July of 1945. And the reason that is in the Twilight book is because the book is about relationships! Poetry is not to be taken at face value, always go deeper!

I believe Frost is describing the end of a relationship. He prefers to end it on good terms (fire). However, it did not work out that way and sadly it ended in hate. (ice) .

.: critiques :.

i love this great piece by robert frost coz it seems that it is being predicted that the end of the world has only two options which is fire and ice.I think fire stands for the greedy power that every man desires to own,as a result,it led to a bursting and blazing destructin of the world. On the other hand, ice, because i think it symbolises the hatred behind every human that slowly destoys the world from its great beauty.P.C.L.

.: fire and ice :.

The speaker considers the ageold question of whether the world will end in fire or in ice. This is similar to another ageold question: whether it would be preferable to freeze to death or burn to death. The speaker determines that either option would achieve its purpose sufficiently well.

.: love it :.

I feel this is a great poem! i think it means to me that the world ended once before, you know.. the whole Noah and his ark theory, and ice was the water that washed away everything and even though the water washed away everything and killed every one, the earth dried up and Noah allegedly saved everything by having 2 of every creature.. but Robert Frost prefers the world to end in fire, cause i mean how can you come back from fire burning you? all thats left will be ashes...or maybe he just wants to see how we can return from it...maybe he is just curious?

.: :.

This poem is about the world ending but the desire that fire represents is man desire for power and wealth sweeping over the world and leaving nothing but destruction behind. The ice semblizing hate is like mankinds hate slowly taking over the world and turning it to a cold and unfeeling place.

.: Fire and Ice :.

We think that fire symbolises sparks, and ice symbolises frost. Also we think that this poem is really great and we think even our mums will like it. Even we couldn't write something as good as that. And fire can also symbolise desire, and ice also symbolises hate. All his other poems are great too.

.: Fire and ice :.

We think that fire means hatetred and ice means disire.
Also that it means that they are equwilly as powerfull and there both the same together when mizxed up together. They are as strong as each other, but we think that you should use water for disire and wind for hatred. That means we will subsutute ice for wind and fire for water to make it sound more funky chicken. The wind and water both are good now listen is that understood?

I don't like this poem it is boring except we did work out what it meant, it meant:
The world was coming to an end
fire is a desire and ice is hate.
It was very short and BORING.
Not meaning to be rude or anything but it was boring !!!!

.: fire and ice :.

We think that the ice symbolises hate and the fire symbolises desire. We subsututed ice for water and fire for wind, because water has a desire to to do its job but is very strong and somtimes creates stunami's.
Wind is equaly strong but creates more destrution, like: Hurricanes, tornados and wirlwinds. We also thought that the world symbolises people who hate and have desires.

This poem isn't really my cup of tea. The poem is well written though and I think the poem is about the world coming to an END; someone dying twice. This poem is very short and stubby. We think that it is a little bit out of order furthermore it doesn't make sense.
