Sent various-scattered ways-
We parted as the Central Flint
Were cloven with an Adze-
Subsisting on the Light We bore
Before We felt the Dark-
A Flint unto this Day-perhaps-
But for that single Spark.

That one fleeting moment. It feels so good, it can be so warm, and then all of the sudden it is cut out of our lives faster than it ever began.
Just a little flicker sometimes is all that it takes and then as the fires start to burn they go out. Emily used a interesting choice of words and analogy here and the reminder of the darkness makes me look forward to the light much more than I ever thought imaginable.
So few words, in fact she always pretty much writes in this manner and yet all the pieces slowly and easily fit together. I have read her autobiography and did not understand her pain in life which she carried with her in her poetry. This woman was truly amazig in more ways than one, even when she was unsure of her love for her best friend or her lover. And she lived such a sheltered life that anyone can understand why she thought the things that she thought and wrote.
