Weathers Analysis

Author: poem of Thomas Hardy Type: poem Views: 23

This is the weather the cuckoo likes,
And so do I;
When showers betumble the chestnut spikes,
And nestlings fly;
And the little brown nightingale bills his best,
And they sit outside at 'The Traveller's Rest,'
And maids come forth sprig-muslin drest,
And citizens dream of the south and west,
And so do I.

This is the weather the shepherd shuns,
And so do I;
When beeches drip in browns and duns,
And thresh and ply;
And hill-hid tides throb, throe on throe,
And meadow rivulets overflow,
And drops on gate bars hang in a row,
And rooks in families homeward go,
And so do I.

I would advise you to please keep neagative comments to yourself. The purpose of this website is to try and make people get a greater understanding of these poems which is what we should be doing. What you have to understand when reading this poem is the fact that Hardy had strong connections with nature which is why he based a few of many of his poems on that topic. I personally feel that once you get a greater understanding, you start to realise how great his poems actually are. =)

I think by some guy you possibly meant Thomas Hardy one of the great Victorian writers. The author is exploring the one thing in this world that we can rely on, nature. It provides an optimistic view of the way things are.

.: This Poem Is Bad :.

This poem is a horrifically bad poem with no general purpose or use. Its written by some useless guy who came up with a place called Wessex which most people are lead to believe is real. His work pops up in the English Coursework studies and to write about this incredibley boring poem is a bore.
